blimey.
it's all been 'appnin these past couple of days. i'd arranged to register with this recruitment company yesterday morning and within a couple of hours of leaving the building i got a phone call asking me to work for them! they simply love me that much. so i did what any self-respecting girl would do and immediately go out and buy a skirt. well, it's for work and everything now. though i realised this lunchtime that said skirt is, in fact, navy and not black. and i wanted black. bummer.
so it turns out that i neither needed the other recruitment company nor the telephone interview from the other people. AND they wanted me to start straight away so i've actually done a day's work today. my god, what a shock to the system. though i did feel v important walking amongst the employed people at 8.30am. i'm also working on the 21st floor of a v flash building - it's so tall that it makes you feel slightly sick in the lifts. but it all seems v glam. the job itself is quite dull. it's basically managing all the CVs they get coming in and putting people on various databases. but i do get free tea and coffee and i also get a very tidy 23 dollars an hour, which is about 9-10 pounds. this seems to be much more than the 17 dollars most people in the hostel seem to be getting.
so i've had tremendous fun today, swishing about in my skirt, being an employed person. i even went out and bought my lunch, i was feeling so glam. AND i had a salad. how 'city' is that?! i sat in a sunny courtyard and read the 'new statesman' that i bought the day before. we're off out tomorrow lunch for kate (who i'm replacing)'s leaving. def back to a pack-up on monday, though. i should think by that time i will have abandoned dressing up and wearing make-up aswell. i mean, who REALLY gets up at 7am and makes all that effort everyday?
AND THEN
i'd just got in from work this evening when i got a call from a bloke at one of the theatres here. apparently, he's had people drop out and would i like to work front of house at the theatre? i've got jobs coming out of my ears! it's primarily for saturday nights but i may get some more shifts midweek aswell. it should be quite interesting and it's only for 4 hours at a time so i said i'd do it. more experience and all that.
which leaves me to ponder the lit fest thing. i haven't heard from her yet so i'm not sure whether anything is happening. i'm wondering whether to suggest that i leave it until mid-april and i could go in for a week before i plan to leave melbourne. they might go for that.
and then it looks like i'll be looking round a few rooms this weekend. there's a flat on southbank which is one of these luxury jobbies and, now i'm all employed and glamorous, i was thinking of getting some plush pad. but it will be sharing with a boy, though, and we all know that boys smell. but there's a couple of other options aswell. god knows that i need to leave this hostel. the scottish bints were replaced by swedish bints who thought is acceptable to be chatting on their mobile in the middle of the night. fuckers. but they've gone aswell so i might get some sleep tonight. you never know.

Sounds like you're very much in demand my dear! Get you and your uber-cool city-girl lifestyle!! Definitely go for one of those plush pads. Even if it is with a boy. When I lived with Antz, he didn't smell half as bad as the girl we were sharing with. So boys aren't all bad!! I'm officially living with Jonnie now too and it's all fab and funky. He's very clean so doesn't smell and is very tidy too!! He's been getting on very well with Rach and Chris, which is lovely. Oh and Chris is going to be fitting our bathroom when we go on holiday in 12 days!!! Yay!!! We're off to Amsterdam, Munich and Paris over the space of a week. Not as exciting as your travels but still, I'm really looking forward to our little adventure. We're going on a night train from Amsterdam to Munich and we're off to visit mad king Ludvig's castle. Oh the giddyness!!
Boys smell? But I'm moving in with one! He has good personal hygiene though...
Imagine living with a really smelly boy, like Big Bobby B****t*ts, that wouldn't be good, wouldn't be good at all...
Hi
Always thought working in plush city office building would be cool - can see you 'doing lunch' and wearing a swishy skirt. I'm sure the dullness of the job itself can be outweighed by the potential to be all creative with the lit festival and the healthy pay. Living with a boy - not so bad - especially one who has no claims to snogging rights - makes them think they can get away with it. I'm sure you'd quickly mould them round to the benefits of cleanliess.
Ant and I are celebrating our ten year anniversary tommorrow - scary. Feel well old and knackered. Your limitless travelling energy is fanatastic -
inspired to get out an do more. Asked my class today who had been to London - 1 out of 22. So asked who had been out of the country - half had but didn't know which country they had been to- have been using your expoits (well the ones appropriate for 11 year olds) to inspire them that there is so much out there.
Take care xxxx
ten years?! bur-limey! can't believe that! makes ME feel old, too! well, congrats guys. i suppose it IS about time you got wed, then.
it's also good to know i'm an inspiration for 11 year olds. it makes all these sleepless nights sharing rooms with weirdos worth it!
and, leanne, how exciting! would love to go to munich. have started thinking about where to go next. maybe you should do a blog of your journeys too. can get lots of top tips.
