just what is socially acceptable when talking late at night in dorms? yes, it's time for another dorm-mates rant. i've been sharing a room with some scottish bints for the past few days and, really, what fuckers, frankly. they were in this impenetrable group of four and reminded me of bastard girls aloud - there were two vaguely pretty ones and then a couple of uglier ones. all they did all the time they were in melbourne was go out drinking and they liked to compete by being the ones in the dorm last on a night. oh, how v trendy and kewl they were. fuckers. and, you know i've been really knackered since my sleepless weekend? well, all i've wanted to do the past few nights is sleep and it seems that all they've wanted to do is get in their jamas and look like they're about to go to bed and then proceed to chat amongst themselves for hours and HOURS and keep the light on. fuckers. i mean, this is socially unacceptable, right? liz and i were clearly bolloxed and wanted to sleep at 11pm but they carried on their conversation about how whatshisname has got a hire car and other mindless drivel until nearly 1am. fuckers. and then to top it all off they woke me this morning cos they had to get up early to check out. fuckers. but at least they've now gone. fuckers.
fuckers.
but on a more positive note: i went to see the people at the lit fest today and it could possibly be v exciting. it was quite weird. i went there all ready to be interviewed and try my best to impress them and it ended up being almost the other way round. i was introduced as 'christine from cheltenham literature festival' to everyone in the office and they whisked my off for coffee in the theatre next door (where, incidentally, geoffrey rush was there, mid-rehearsal for a play he's doing in a couple of weeks - but i didn't even notice him in my surprise at being all important and that to these people). so, anyway, we chatted and chatted. it was actually quite easy and i surprised myself at how experienced i sounded. and then it came to me saying that actually i would quite like to work for them even if i wouldn't get paid. i expected that they might have some filing that needed to be done but then there were vols already in the office so i thought they may not even have room for me to do that. so imagine my surprise when they said that they would need a couple of days to work it out but would i like to do some programming for one of their strands?!!!!!!!!! how cool?!!!! i didn't even do programming when i was at home! they said they'd contact me in a couple of days so, hopefully, things could really work out.
and then.
when i left the meeting, i'd got a couple of missed calls - one from a recruitment agency to go and meet them and another offering a phone interview for a market research interviewer thing! so suddenly things have started happening. hopefully i'll be able to combine paid and unpaid work so that the bank of mum and dad needn't shell out too much.
oh, and i might have found an apartment aswell.
how simply exciting!

Just had a look at Bridget's blog, you didn't tell me she was into architecture, CAD, etc. Does she know about your Dad doing architecture slightly?
Hope you enjoyed the toast and Dairylea! I was supposed to be looking after the granddaughters last evening, in between Debbie going to College, and your mum coming round after looking after Jamie, but your mum was early so it didn't happen. And this afternoon I was supposed to be looking after the girls while David and Debbie went to a Parents/Teachers thing about Abbie, but Mollie wasn't so well so David is staying with the girls while Debbie goes to school!
There is a pause on the extension at the moment, till the windows and door arrive. It definitely looks good though, quite cottagified, with lumpy ridge tiles and second-hand bricks, the garden gate should finish it off just right.
Language!!!!!!!!!!
Hello Christine's Dad - Yes, she told me. We had many a discussion on the subject of Architecture and what goes on in an office. We talked about CAD drawings, detailing, meetings, job running, all sorts really. I have educated her.
There really is nothing worse than people who don't abide by the unspoken (but still legally binding) rules of etiquette in a shared dorm. I sympathise muchly! But you can take comfort in the fact that their lives as billabong bimbos will be as empty as their heads! Hurrah!
Oh how exciting about the literature festival!! Of course they're going to treat you like you're important, because you are!!!! I'm really giddy for you and about the apartment too. You'll have to send me the address when you're in. Hope everything stays cool and funky. Luv Leanne XXX
